obsession: everything london

I've spent the day in bed, planning my move to london. Boyfriend says it's a bad idea. He thinks I'll be disappointed since I won't be a princess, nor will I be attending Hogwarts. A girl can dream. This is what happens when you watch royal wedding coverage on your dvr for hours on end. Ah-mazing. Definitely worth every second. Feel bad for boyfriend. He has to deal with me. This is all I talk about. Expect future posts on this topic.

the royal reception, so beautiful

Still at a loss for words...

the royal wedding, simply magical

At a loss for words...
"Those people who were so recently sneering at her background, and nicknaming her 'Waity Katie', will soon be lost in admiration of her poise and professionalism." Historian Andrew Roberts
"It is a fairytale thing, and people criticize it and say they're making too much of it. But it's about love. And in this day and age, anything that's about love and positivity is a welcome relief from what's going on in the world." Singer Sir Elton John
"I think it's a big deal because there's this romantic notion of the prince. Every woman wants to find their prince." Jane Seymour
"She is so stunningly beautiful, it's so regal, it's such understatement that I think it's just perfection. Everybody is starstruck with her gown." Harold Tillman, chairman of the British Fashion Council.
"It was one of those enchanting moments really. You just felt a huge great sense of privilege that you were there. It's got the build up of almost of a family wedding, everyone milling around... everybody waving at each other. And then suddenly in comes Prince William and Prince Harry, and suddenly there's a sense of here we are, we are watching history. And from then on in I'm afraid I'm going to have to use a word I have heard all day - sensational." Royal Expert and Author Robert Harman

obsession: game of thrones

sundays at 9/8central on HBO

I absolutely love love love this new series on HBO. Based on George R.R. Martin’s novels, Game of Thrones is fantasy set across a backdrop of sex, power, and violence. I was hooked from the moment I pressed play. The story is captivating, the cinematography is to die for, and the characters are stunning.  Emilia Clarke, who plays the beautiful Daeneyrs, is the epitome of perfection. I now want to die my hair white and play with unicorns in my spare time. This is definitely my new favorite show of the moment. If you don't have HBO, this series alone is worth signing up for a subscription. Obsessed.

Wishing the most happiest of birthdays to little sister who is finally 18. You're gorgeous, talented, and have an ah-mazing fashion sense. Really, who wouldn't want to be you? Sooo to celebrate the third most important day of the year (my birthday and boyfriend's must come first of course), I've compiled a list of eighteen things you can do that you couldn't do yesterday.

Easter Sunday

Easter with boyfriend and family was ah-mazing, as to be expected. It started with family drama, which was quickly ended by moi thank you very much. It went something like this: fighting fighting fighting..."hey guys, it's easter, no fighting on easter"...silence silence silence. Then we drove into the city. I decided it was a sign that it was sunny and beautiful out, since it poured every other day this week. Before heading to lunch, we took pictures by gorgeous red tulips. They actually were that red. We then headed up to the petting zoo. Yes, there's a petting zoo in the club we went to. I held a baby chicken. It squeaked. My heart melted. Finally, we all enjoyed a delicious lunch, followed by dessert, which was topped with another chicken.

saru mo ki kara ochiru

Kotowaza are japanese ancient sayings. This kotowaza (saru mo ki kara ochiru or even monkeys fall from trees) conveys the idea that all creatures are flawed. Even monkeys, who are skillful treeclimbers, fall on occasion. The proverb is a friendly nudge. A reminder that messing up is inevitable. A message that nobody is perfect. So the next time you make a mistake, don't beat yourself up over it. Saru mo ki kara ochiru.

obsession: willow and jaden smith

If there was a picture next to the word fierce in the dictionary, this would be it. For those of you who aren't familiar, Willow and Jaden are the children of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. I don't know what their parents are feeding them, but I want some of it. Not only are they extremely talented, but they come across as smart, poised, and confident in every interview. The kicker? they're ten and twelve years old. If it's possible to be this fierce before puberty, we have absolutely no excuses. Be inspired.

what would you do differently...

If you could do one thing differently this week, what would it be?

I would have asked for help. I’m the type of person who enjoys doing things on my own. When other people do things for me, it  feels like I’m cheating, like the experience and accomplishment isn’t mine. This week, I learned that doing everything by myself is not always a good idea. Case in point: I spent seven hours trying to set up an FTP server. No, this is not a joke. Yes, this process should take less than five minutes. After going to sleep frustrated and overwhelmed, I finally asked my incredibly talented and amazing boyfriend if he could help. It took him twenty seconds to install the server and get it to work. Wow. I could have saved myself seven hours of frustration and done something fun. Like go shopping or watch trashy reality TV (Real Housewives of Orange County anyone?). Next time, I’m definitely asking for help.

it’s raining, it’s pouring

I woke up this morning to grey skies and blustery weather. I love  rain. There’s something about a storm that makes everything seem extra special. Maybe it’s the cozy feeling of being  tucked safely away inside with a good book. Or the adventure of driving through lightening and thunder, barely able to see. To me, rain represents a cleansing, a renewal, an opportunity to rejuvinate, a chance to start fresh. Everything just seems more exciting and personal when it’s raining. And everyone can use a little excitement in their lives.

the perfect weekend

This weekend, boyfriend and I went to the park with a football and a frizbee (his idea). I decided to put on his yankees hat to look more sporty. The weather was gorgeous, not too warm, not too cold. The football was fun for five seconds until I realized I was scared of it. Boyfriend is stronger than he thinks. Every time it came toward me I’d sort of thow my arms in its general direction and duck so it wouldn’t accidentally hit me in the face. Frizbee went better, although it involved alot of running around in circles and yelling “it was the wind, i tell ya” everytime it landed a mile away from boyfriend. All in all, a pretty amazing Saturday.

obsession: yellow

bikini design by j.crew

I don’t know if it’s because the weather is starting to get warmer (yay April) or because boyfriend surprised me with yellow tulips two weeks ago (yes, he’s amazing), but I am suddenly and unexpectedly obsessed with everything yellow. When the tulips died, I  bought a bright yellow loofah and I am currently on the hunt for yellow clothing. Sweaters, shorts, bikinis (love the one above)… basically anything that’s not too pricey. What better way to reign in spring?
